St Anton

Some friends and I spent a week skiing in St Anton, Austria.

Kevin and I flew into Innsbruck - we were supposed to fly into some other airport, but because we missed the plane we had to get a different flight. I didn't mind - Innsbruck is a very cool looking airport, surrounded by mountains:

Here's a picture of Kevin, with a suitable backdrop:

I was not as diligent with my camera as I was in Zermatt - I just didn't find the scenery quite so captivating... also, I forgot to take the camera along a few days. The picture above was taken from the nearby ski resort of Zurs, at the top of the ski route heading down to Lech.

This picture was also taken from Zurs:

Here's a picture of me modelling some questionnable shades I bought from the Strolz shop (people have pointed out to me that the hat isn't so great either):

Bobsled

On the Thursday, we caught a bus back to Innsbruck for a ride on an olympic bobsled track. At the beginning of the ride, myself and everone else was thinking "This is pretty much like a rollercoaster"... we all let out appropriate hollers and screams.... but then it kept getting faster and faster. Everybody stopped yelling and hung on for dear life while the bobsled and passengers rattled ever more violently.

If it wasn't for the helmets we were wearing, we would have been seriously hurt from getting our heads bashed against the side of the bobsled. Here's a shot of Alex, demoing the helmets we wore:

Bobsled clip

Anyway, here is a clip of the actual bobsled.

Unfortunately, it is taken towards the end of the run, when the bobsled is coming back up hill and going a lot slower than it did - so you don't really get an idea of just how fast it really gets.

But don't get me wrong - it was awesome.

I would probably sound soft of me to mention that watching Pirates of the Caribbean on the bus back was almost as much fun.

Clips

Here is a clip of Anthony on the snowboard boarding - he was doing so well until he fell over!

Here is a clip of Padraig - he appears to be very careful in this clip not to fall over on camera. A wipeout would have made much better material!

Here is a clip of Kim getting off the chairlift. He actually stacked right into me but unfortunately I'd already stopped recording! Doh!
